Job Description

Job Purpose

The Accounting Technician II position is part of the Fiscal Unit at Alamance County Department of Social Services. This employee will be expected to perform tasks such as accounts payable, collecting receivables, completing monthly state reports, as well as creating, maintaining, and updating spreadsheets, for account reconciliation. This employee must have high attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines as indicated.

Responsibilities

  • Completes monthly the 1571 to include collecting and reviewing financial documents and spreadsheets, importing into NCCORELS, confirming report balance, submitting the statement of administrative cost, and ensuring appropriate funding allocations are expended.
  • Responsibility for accounts payable, which requires coding an invoice with the appropriate account code, obtaining approval, and entering in Munis.
  • Maintains spreadsheets to track spending within programs as well as contracts.
  • Assists other Fiscal Team members with shared duties that include, but are not limited to auditing petty cash and gift cards, receiving overpayments from clients, and logging EBT cards when received at the Agency.
  • Completes Agency deposits daily or as needed.
  • Ensures all Energy Assistance payments are reviewed for accuracy and provided to County Finance for payment in a timely manner.
  • Performs other job related duties as trained and assigned.

Skills & Abilities

Education & Experience:  High School Diploma or equivalent with prior experience in bookkeeping or accounting and three years experience in bookkeeping or accounting clerical work in an accounting office; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (Completion of a one or two year business course in an accredited community college or business school including or supplemented by basic courses in bookkeeping or accounting may be substituted for two and three years of the required experience respectively.) Computer Skills:  Prior experience with Microsoft Office products required. Proficient in typing accurately and within a fast-paced environment.  Prior experience working with Tyler Munis software, preferred. License/Credentials: Possession of a valid NC driver's license.
