Adult Services Social Worker Supervisor III

Catawba County Social Services is looking for an innovative and energetic person who has direct social work supervisory experience as well as experience working with older and disabled adults, individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and/or behavioral health issues. This position will supervise the following programs:  Adult Protective Services, Guardianship/Payeeship, case management for older/disabled adults, and Medicaid Administrative Claiming with primary responsibility of Adult Protective Services. • Providing supervision to social workers serving adults who are alleged to be abused, neglected or exploited or who have been deemed incompetent and are in need of a guardian to advocate for services and make decisions to meet their needs

• Providing supervision for social workers who are working to protect adults from abuse, neglect and exploitation as well as social workers who make decisions on behalf of adults who have been deemed incompetent so those adults can live as independently as possible in the community

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervision, consultation, and leadership to Adult Services Social Workers
• Review and assign cases referred to Adult Protective Services, Guardianship, and Representative Payeeship
• Primary supervisory responsibility for Adult Protective Services
• Primary supervisory responsibility for screening Adult Protective Services reports
• Advocate for services for clients served by the agency
• Provide training and professional development opportunities to social workers
• Coordination and networking with Division staff and community to increase awareness of issues regarding adult abuse, neglect, exploitation, guardianship, and payeeship
• Identify service gaps and work to develop best practices to address gaps in order to meet the needs of older and disabled adults
• Provide on-call supervisory coverage in a rotation with other supervisors

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree from an accredited school of social work and 2 years of social work experience; or
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of social work and 3 years of social work experience; or
• Bachelor’s degree in a human services field and 4 years of social work experience; or
• Bachelor’s degree in a non-human services field and 5 years of social work experience

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Valid Driver’s License with a safe driving record
• Thorough knowledge of social work practices, principles, and techniques and the ability and skill to implement same
• Demonstrated skills in managing complex program areas and meeting established program goals and outcomes
• Capacity to problem solve in complex cases and situations, including the ability to work well in crisis situations
• Strong assessment, evaluation, and planning skills
• Superb leadership skills, with the ability to motivate others
• Capability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with a variety of agency and community partners
• This position is considered light work; lifting up to 20 pounds.
