ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

ALAMANCE COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES   This is supervisory and managerial work in directing the internal operations of the agency to ensure efficient and effective management of the Alamance County Department of Social Services. This position will provide leadership to the agency Executive Leadership, Management, and Leadership teams while working closely with the Assistant Director of Services. This position will manage fiscal, IT, training/onboarding, performance management, safety, security and administrative operations and activities. This position will also provide operational oversight of the Family Justice Center. This position will direct the daily activities of the majority of the staff through three high level Program Managers and 3 supervisors. This position will ensure compliance with fiscal policy; oversee organizational changes; have major input, on personnel and budget issues. This position develops, prepares, presents, and manages the Social Services’ annual budget. This work is performed independently under the agency director's supervision. This employee must respond to disasters as needed in accordance with the Alamance County DSS policy or upon the declaration of a state of emergency by the Alamance County Emergency Management Office.     Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting and financial planning principles and practices
  • Through knowledge of generally accepted accounting and budgeting principles as applied to governmental accounting
  • Experience and knowledge of 1571, purchasing, federal grants, and basic programmatic functions
  • Skills to prepare, manage, and maximize a budget
  • Ability to develop and implement administrative programs and procedures and to evaluate their effectiveness.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, other state officials, and the general public
  • Ability to provide guidance and feedback to help others strengthen specific knowledge/skill areas
