Job Description

Description of Job Duties:    The primary purpose of this position is to prepare, review, and modify court orders as required by child support regulations and policies. Custodial parents and non-custodial parents are interviewed, legal action is pursued, and negotiations are conducted in order to obtain support for the custodial parent. This employee must determine the best course of action required to use all available resources to locate, establish paternity, and enforce child support payments, medical insurance and/or arrears. Employee is responsible for the financial management and accounting of child support court orders. The employee determines what action to take when the non-custodial parent is in arrearage. Considerable independent judgment is utilized in applying appropriate rules, regulations and laws to cases.   When either one or both of the parents live in another state, Uniform Interstate Family Support Act (UIFSA) applies to the case. The agent adheres to interstate laws and rules and determines the best course of action.   The agent must have excellent communication skills to listen and converse with people of diverse backgrounds and must maintain a professional relationship   This position will learn and use programs Compass Pilot and Compass Appointments (Compass Co-Pilot, if issued a DSS iPad) as required by the position to do, but not limited to:  request leave, schedule/receive appropriate appointments, set up virtual files, scan/retrieve documents, receive/send tasks.  
Educational/Experience Requirements:
  • Four-year degree and six months experience in eligibility, investigative, judiciary or legal work that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the work; or
  • Associates degree in business administration, human resources, law enforcement or closely related degree and two years of experience in eligibility, investigative, judiciary or legal work that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the work; or
  • Graduation from high school and three years of experience in eligibility, investigative, judiciary, or legal work that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the work; or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
