Job Description
This position is responsible for interpreting and implementing Child Support Enforcement policies and procedures. Duties include establishment and enforcement of legal child support obligations and medical insurance; investigating and gathering information; court and hearing preparations; locating absent parents; establishing paternity; establishing new and modifying old child support orders; monitoring support payments; and related duties as assigned by supervisor. General knowledge of the Child Support Enforcement program, community resources, applicable legal procedures, and methods of investigation is preferred. This position requires the ability to produce high quality results under pressure of tight time frames, high caseloads, and scarce resources.
Thorough knowledge of the Child Support Enforcement Program and applicable legal procedures; considerable ability to interview clients, absent parents and related sources, and to investigate cases; considerable ability to organize, analyze, and summarize case information; basic math skills; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and absent parents, location resources, offices of the Clerk of Court, Magistrates, District Attorney, Sheriff, other state Child Support Enforcement agencies, other court officials and private attorneys. Bilingual in English and Spanish is a desired qualification. A four year degree and six months experience in eligibility, investigative, judiciary, or legal work that provides knowledge, skills and abilities needed to perform the work; or an associate’s degree in business administration, human resources, law enforcement or closely related degree and two years of experience in eligibility, investigative, judiciary, or legal work that provides knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the work; or graduation from high school and three years of experience in eligibility, investigative, judiciary, or legal work that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the work; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Note: Degrees must be from appropriately accredited institution.
