Wake County Health and Human Services Child Welfare Division seeks an experienced Child Welfare Trainer, eager to join our Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Program. The Child Welfare Trainer will implement a training plan to improve the quality of staff service delivery. This position will prioritize efforts on training needed for successful implementation of best practice models, state policy and county procedures into daily work for Child Welfare staff.
Primary job duties and responsibilities include:
- Developing and delivering professional training and support to social workers, social work supervisors and management
- Researching policies/best practices and evaluating data to assess practice needs; managing training data
- Writing, researching and synthesizing complex content into relevant, applicable and understandable sequences of information to achieve applied learning and skill development
- Demonstrating a strong knowledge of Child Welfare laws, policies and best practices, and delivering training in compliance with applicable policies, rules, and Federal/State statues
- Developing and designing interactive presentations using a variety of technology and software options
- Evaluating training to identify and address areas needing improvement

- Bachelor's Degree
- Three years of job-related experience
- Equivalent education and experience are accepted
Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)
- Master’s degree in Social Work or related human service field
- Five years direct Child Welfare practice (in CPS In-Home Services)
- Two years supervising and training experience in Child Welfare
- Excellent communication skills (writing and public speaking)
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and platforms that deliver virtual training
- Experience developing, evaluating, and delivering course curriculum

- Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning styles and delivering effective training to adults
