Division Director for Children’s Services

The Forsyth County Department of Social Services is seeking to hire a motivated self-starter to provide strategic leadership and management of the Forsyth County Department of Social Services Family and Children's Division. The desired candidate will be a proven ethical, transformational leader with superior communication, organizational, personnel, and child welfare knowledge and skills. Proven abilities to analyze and improve child welfare practice (centered around child protective services, foster care, adoption, parenting education and mental health/trauma informed services), manage and supervise three program managers, create effective community partnerships, measure and improve results, and build a positive organizational culture are critical to the success of this position. Able to oversee mental health services for children and families and contractual relationships with the local MCO.

Minimum Education and Experience:

Graduation from college with a four-year degree in a human services field or related curriculum including at least 15 semester hours in courses related to social work or counseling and six years of social work or counseling experience, two of which was in a supervisory capacity. Prefer a Masters in Social Work (MSW). A higher education level may be considered as a substitution for all or part of the experience requirement. A four-year degree outside of the relevant academic field plus additional years of relevant experience may also be considered. Valid Driver's License required as this position requires frequent driving. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for making significant improvements of processes, systems, or standards to enhance performance of the Division and multiple subdivisions. Requires broad management and leadership knowledge to lead multiple Work Groups. Typically has master level knowledge and skills within a specific technical or professional discipline with board understanding of other areas within the job function.· Achieves goals through teams of managers. May be responsible for creating workforce and staffing plans for other job area s to ensure availability of employees and resources.· Responsible for planning and identifying short/long range goals and for implementation of strategic planning process within Division.  Responsible for planning organizational changes within the Division to ensure there are adequate and effectiveresources to meet the needs. ·Conducts analysis and initiates interface with community and State resources to plan for effective program service development. Serve on state and local planning groups. ·Responsible for the development of funding resources through collaborative grant writing with community funding partners. Works with other county departments, community organizations and other planning forums to develop resources for the Department and for other community needs. Collaborate with staff to identify needs and/or concerns and developing means for improvement. Monitors disciplinary procedures conducted in the division through review of written materials, discussion with supervisors and Program Managers in coordination with Human Resources and Administration.· Conducts performance evaluations on staff that report directly to the Division Director and to review all those submitted by Program Managers and Supervisors for staff that perform at or above standard. Ensures compliance in the administration and billing of mental health services. Other duties as assigned
