Description
The Scotland County Department of Social Services works to improve the wellbeing and safety of citizens' lives. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:- Provide county and agency specific orientation and benefits enrollment for new employees.
- Posting of job recruitments, qualifying applicants, completing record checks, following recruitment process until completed.
- Creating, updating, and maintaining personnel records.
- Process and track Family Medical Leave requests.
- Maintain SCATS drug and alcohol program compliance.
- Track, process and record all personnel changes.
- Maintain various personnel reports and surveys.
- Print ID cards and access cards for the agency.
- Prepare and maintain various personnel packets and booklets.
- Performs other duties as assigned, which may include emergency shelter duty.

IDEAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:- General knowledge of policies, procedures, rules, state and federal law as related to governmental operations.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret rules, regulations and procedures.
- Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and executive work effectively.
- Ability to critically think and apply selected policies, procedures, and regulations when processing personnel transactions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, administrative officials, and the general public.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Basic knowledge and/or ability to learn use of office equipment, software systems, internet based programs.
Typical Qualifications
PREFERRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:- Graduation from high school and five years of progressively responsible administrative work including at least two years of experience in administering a personnel program(s) for a work unit or in a personnel office, preferably related to the area assigned to the position;
- Or graduation from a four year college or university and one year of experience in administering a personnel program(s) for a work unit or in a personnel office, preferably related to the area assigned to the position;
- Or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
