Human Services Caseworker (Zone 3) – Long Term Care

The New Hanover County Department of Social Services is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and customer friendly professional to aid citizens in need of economic assistance in the role of a Human Services Caseworker Zone 3.  Caseworkers are responsible for interviewing clients and collateral contacts using various complex automated systems, explaining the requirements and benefits of an economic service program to determine eligibility and/or re-eligibility for the various programs. Caseworkers assigned to zone 3 duties specialize in Long term care services through Medicaid. Duties include researching and evaluating resources; verifying information; processing applications; explaining and recommending programs; referring clients to other appropriate agencies or community programs and documenting findings and the status of the case. This position will specialize in Long-Term Care, Special Assistance, Special Assistance In-home, PACE, CAP and eligibility for benefits of various community resource programs.
