Job Description

Job Purpose The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate, organize, and assist in operations of the Reception area for the agency.  Employee will perform a variety of functions that include records and reports management, filing, scanning, one on one customer services, correspondence, other general administrative tasks; and providing directional information, community resources, agency forms and applications.  Work requires an excellent customer service skill, working knowledge and experience in general administrative functions, and use of general office equipment.     Responsibilities
  • Gather and give information and instructions regarding the work process and procedures
  • Record and compile information based on general guidelines
  • Maintain high level of professionalism and to conduct business in an ethical manner at all times
  • May require to coordinate work of other support staff, student workers or volunteers
  • Screen communications based on predetermined guidelines
  • Obtain data for documentation and verification of information needed in determining eligibility
  • Detect need for other agency services and make appropriate referrals
  • Perform tasks involving a high degree of accuracy
  • Learn the intricacies of numerous forms and procedures of the eligibility programs
  • Use a variety of office equipment
Skills & Abilities Education & Experience:  High School Diploma or equivalent with the demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills and abilities gained through at least two years of professional or clerical experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Computer Skills:  Prior experience with Microsoft Windows suites of products. License/Credentials: Possession of a valid NC driver's license. Additional Position Information: All DSS positions are subject to reallocation contingent upon funding, agency needs and client population and are subject to perform work during emergency or disaster situations as required and may be required to staff shelter overnight.
