Job Description
POSITION: Income Maintenance Caseworker II - Food & Nutrition Services Unit
Chowan County Department of Social Services
SALARY GRADE: 61 - $33,000.00
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This position is responsible for determining eligibility for the Food & Nutrition Services Program and for conducting re-determination reviews with on-going cases to determine continued eligibility for the FNS Program according to federal, state and local policies and guidelines. The worker is responsible for conducting interviews with applicants and on-going clients to collect all of the required information in order to make a determination of eligibility according to regulations. The worker is responsible for reading and implementing FNS policies and procedures. This position requires extensive work on the computer, running on-line verifications, checking various state and local databases, and keying information into the state network. The worker is responsible for meeting federal, state, and local unit deadlines. Duties include verification of continued eligibility for the FNS Program according to policies and procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: One year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker I or an equivalent combination of training or experience.
Note** - This position can be filled in a work against capacity at the Income Maintenance Caseworker I classification. A Work Against Capacity allows for the suitable candidate to obtain the experience by working in a lower classification. The minimum qualifications for this position is graduation from an accredited associate degree program in Human Services Technology, Social Services Associate, Paralegal Technology, Business Administration, Secretarial Science, or a closely related curriculum; or graduation from high school and two years of paraprofessional, clerical, or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling of data, analysis of data and/or performance of mathematical or legal tasks with at least one year of such experience being in an income maintenance program; or graduation from high school and three years of paraprofessional, clerical or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, the gathering and compiling of data, the analysis of data and/or the performance of mathematical or legal tasks; or an equivalent combination of training and experience which meets the minimum standard set forth by the State Personnel for the Income Maintenance Caseworker I classification. All candidates must be screened and pre-qualified by State Personnel.
