This position is located in the Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) Unit in the Income Maintenance Program area. The primary purpose of this unit is to administer the policies of the FNS program and to assist people with accessing benefits available through the programs administered by the workers in this unit. The primary purpose of the Income Maintenance Caseworker III (IMC III) is to serve as lead worker over II level income maintenance caseworkers who determine eligibility for program benefits through the FNS program. As lead worker over II level income maintenance caseworkers, the IMC III must be thoroughly familiar with all functional aspects required to properly process the applications of clients applying for benefits. The IMC III must be knowledgeable to advise and counsel lower level staff on policies and regulations of the income maintenance program which affect the more complex cases. In addition to lead worker duties, the person in this position performs IMC functions such as: takes and processes applications, reviews cases for continuing eligibility, and reacts to changes in situation as they are learned to determine the effect of the change on the case. This person also responds to information from other sources and reports generated by automated matches and other sources to determine the effect on the case, as well as to reply to requests for information. This person must be a proficient user of the North Carolina Families Accessing Services through Technology (NC FAST) program.
