Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION The primary purpose position is responsible for the administrative and technical supervision of a small staff of Income Maintenance Caseworkers and/or other support staff in one or more of the following programs:  Food and Nutrition Services, Medicaid, Low Income Energy Assistance, Crisis Intervention, Work First Family Assistance or Child Daycare Services.  This position requires the ability to produce high quality results under pressure of tight time frames and scarce resources.     MINIMUM TRAINING & EXPERIENCE Three years of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker or Investigator in an Income Maintenance Program.         KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Considerable knowledge of the programs, forms, and documents used in determining eligibility in the program area supervised.  Considerable knowledge of use of income maintenance manuals. Considerable knowledge of needs, problems, and attitudes of disadvantaged persons.  General knowledge of all income maintenance programs and all agency programs and services which could affect the client/applicant.  Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills.  Ability to instruct, organize, direct, and supervise lower-level employees performing eligibility duties.  Ability to maintain a satisfactory working relationship with applicants and other contacted within the course of performing work.  Ability to communicate effectively with applicants and community agencies to obtain pertinent data and to interpret rules and regulations.  Ability to represent the income maintenance staff in departmental meetings and community conferences.  Ability to present information orally and in written form.  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret a variety of rules, regulations, and procedures of varying complexity.     Physical Requirements Must be able to physically perform the basic life support functions of stooping, reaching, walking, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to perform sedentary work which includes exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Must have the visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures, perform accounting functions, operate typewriter or computer terminal, do extensive reading and determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.     APPLICATION PROCESS All applicants must complete and submit a County Application by the closing date online at www.clevelandcounty.com.
