Job Description: The primary purpose of this position is to assume responsibility for the administrative and technical management of the Income Maintenance Supervisors, and indirectly responsible for the work of Income Maintenance Caseworkers who are involved with the intake, processing, and review functions in any/ all Income Maintenance Programs. The Income Maintenance programs include: Food and Nutrition Services, Energy Programs, Program Integrity, Work First/Benefit Diversion, Adult and Children’s Medicaid, Long Term Care, Special Assistance, Community Alternatives Program, Medicaid Transportation, General Assistance, and Day Care. Employee reports to agency director and is responsible for the duties as assigned by the director. This employee is considered second in charge during disasters and must respond as such and in accordance with Tyrrell County DSS Disaster Policy. This employee must have a valid NC Driver’s License and working phone for emergencies. This position will utilize quality assurance reports, state computer printouts, monthly program reports, and input from state and regional program representatives in evaluating the overall performance of the Income Maintenance Units. This position will assess individual and unit training needs and provide or arrange for training of both in direct or indirect job related areas. This position supervises the entire Income Maintenance Unit. This position will directly supervise two Income Maintenance Supervisor II’s and indirectly supervises 8 staff consisting of Income Maintenance Caseworkers and a Human Resources Placement Specialist. Employee should have thorough knowledge of the use of the Economic Services manuals and considerable knowledge of all Income Maintenance programs and the forms and documents used in determining eligibility. Employee should be able to read, analyze, and interpret rules, regulations, and procedures. Employee should have considerable knowledge of community programs and services which could affect the client. General knowledge of basic supervisory skills, including instructing, organizing, directing and supervising lower-level employees is needed. Employee should have the ability to assess needs, understand the budget process, and plan for future requirements. Employee should have good communication skills, both written and verbal, as it relates to clients, other supervisors, agency staff, public officials, and Director. Minimum training and experience requirements for this position includes four years of experience in income maintenance program including one year of supervisory experience in an income maintenance or service program; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Normal hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, totaling 37.5 hours per week.
