Job Description
Description of Job Duties: The primary purpose of this position is to determine eligibility for the Crisis Intervention Program (CIP), Emergency Assistance Program, General Assistance Program, Share the Warmth Program Energy Neighbor Fund and Low Income Energy Assistance Programs (LIEAP). This position will interview, gather necessary data, determine the eligibility of the customer and arrange with vendor services to alleviate the heating/cooling crisis and/or medication crisis. This position will also be responsible for answering general inquiries by phone or in person and making referrals to other program areas or agencies in the community when needed. This position is required to maintain and monitor continual compliance for all program requirements and respond to the customer’s needs for assistance regarding their eligibility.
This employee will learn and use programs Compass Pilot and Compass Appointments (Compass Co-Pilot, if issued a DSS iPad) as required by position to do, but not limited to: request leave, schedule/receive appropriate appointments, set up virtual files, scan/retrieve documents, receive/send tasks.
This position will be responsible for learning and navigating in North Carolina Families Accessing Services through Technology (NC FAST).
Educational/Experience Requirements:
- Graduation from high school and two years of paraprofessional or clerical public contact experience which should have included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling of data, analysis of data, and/or the performance of mathematical or legal tasks; or
- Graduation from high school and one year of experience in an income maintenance program; or an equivalent combination of training or experience.
