Job Description

Are you a creative and energetic professional with a passion for working with seniors (older adults)?  Would you enjoy a rewarding part-time job with benefits?  Catawba County Department of Social Services is seeking a part-time Nutrition Site Manager to operate/manage our Newton Seniors Morning Out program in Catawba County.  This program provides a catered nutritious meal as well as educational, social, and wellness programs/activities to improve the lives of seniors (older adults).  The sites are located at the First United Methodist Church in Hickory and Center United Methodist Church in Catawba. This position is part-time, with prorated benefits, working 24 hours per week.  Schedule is Monday – Thursday weekly and one Friday per month, working during the morning hours.  RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Management of nutrition site to assure compliance with agency and state Home and Community Care Block Grant standards
  • Oversight of safety, comfort, and well-being of seniors on-site
  • Arranging and/or developing/conducting daily programs/outings
  • Training of program volunteers
  • Determining eligibility and taking applications for the Farmers Market and Commodity Program
  • Assisting with connecting seniors to community resources
  • Ordering, serving, and assuring quality/quantity of food and supplies
  • Clean-up and maintenance of site
  • Record-keeping, documentation, data entry, and reporting
  • Provides community outreach to market the Seniors Morning Out program
QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Associates degree in a Human Services field; OR
  • Associates degree in any field and 1 year of experience performing similar responsibilities of the position; OR
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent and 2 years of experience performing similar responsibilities of the position
  ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • A valid NC Driver’s license with a safe driving record
  • Highly creative and energetic with ability to organize and multi-task in order to plan and coordinate various programs and activities for seniors
  • Ability to assess daily changes in clients
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills to work collaboratively with seniors, community volunteers, and other human services related staff
  • Effective computer skills
  • This is considered medium work; lifting up to 50 pounds on a regular basis to carry meals, coolers, and supplies.
