DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The primary purpose of this position is to receive all clients, visitors and other public constituents visiting the agency for all programs and services offered as well as incoming calls to the agency. Must have good telephone etiquette, listening skills and the ability to perform work accurately and quickly while working in a crowded and noisy environment. KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Considerable knowledge of all programs and services offered by the agency, kept abreast of all changes and the functions of each unit. Also must possess excellent public relations skills, good oral and written communication skills, the ability to express, comprehend, interpret and convey information clearly. Considerable knowledge of office practices and procedures. Ability to resolve problem situations; be resourceful in gathering and giving program information and to answer most inquires and questions independently. Must have good computer skills and a thorough knowledge of Word, Excel, Internet, and E-mail. MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills and abilities gained through at least three years of office assistant/secretarial experience; or completion of a two-year secretarial science or business administration program with one year of responsible experience as described above; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
