Job Description

    Description of Work:   The primary purpose of this position is the supervision, management, and oversight of a wide range of adult, children, and family services. This position requires programmatic leadership, direct involvement in operational matters, and strategic planning of social work and other related services as part of the agency’s management team. Work also involves the ongoing review of programs, quality assurance of services, compliance with standards, and ongoing supervision of unit supervisors.   Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of social work principals and techniques
  • Knowledge of State, Federal and County law, policies, and procedures relevant to specific service areas
  • Sound knowledge base in the legal aspects of child welfare and adult services
  • Knowledge of service functions and tasks specific to all service programs, including adoptions, permanency planning, child protective services, Community Alternative Program, personal care, rest home licensure, in-home aide services, and all other supportive and preventive services
  • Well-founded base in social work theory, child development, mental health related issues, trauma informed practices, systems theories, family dynamics, and management principles
  • Thorough knowledge of planning the programmatical and operational goals within the agency’s network of services to children and families.
  Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: --Master’s degree from an accredited school of Social Work and four (4+) years of social work or counseling experience, two of which were supervisory; or --Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of Social Work and five (5+) years of social work or counseling experience, two of which were supervisory; or --Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field or related curriculum including at least 15 semester hours in courses related to social work or counseling and six (6+) years of social work or counseling experience, two of which were supervisory; or --an equivalent combination of training and experience.
