Title: Social Work Supervisor III- Child Protective Services 1875 1.21.2021 Salary: $50,477.74 Pay Grade 27

Description of Work: The primary responsibilities of this position are to plan, organize, direct, train, monitor and evaluate a team of Child Protective Services social work staff and work processes to provide child protective services to families and children in Burke County and that the services provided are consistent with federal and state laws, administrative rules and regulations and state policies that govern child protective services in North Carolina.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements: Supervisor in this position should have considerable knowledge in the methods and principles of supervision and social work administration as well as social work principles, techniques, and treatment modalities and practices and their application to specific casework and community problems:
- Working knowledge of private and governmental community resources and ways in which these may assist clients
- Thorough knowledge of Federal/State Child Welfare laws, the judicial system, Federal, State, and local policies, relating to Family and Child Welfare Services
- Possess knowledge of physical and behavioral indicators of child abuse, neglect and dependency
- Aware of the dynamics of these households in order to best supervise the staff working with these families
- Knowledge of interviewing techniques and their applications
- Master’s degree from an accredited school of social work and two (2+) years of social work or counseling experience; or Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of Social Work and three (3+) years of social work or counseling experience; or Master's degree in a Counseling field and three (3+) years of social work or counseling experience; or Four-year degree in a Human Services field or related curriculum including at least 15 semester hours in courses related to social work or counseling and four (4+) years of social work or counseling experience; or Graduation from a four-year college or university and five (5+) years of experience in rehabilitation counseling, pastoral counseling, or a related human services field providing experience in the techniques of casework, group work, or community organization; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
