Social Work Supervisor III

The Orange County Department of Social Services has an opening for a Social Worker Supervisor III. An employee in this class is primarily responsible for organizing, directing, planning, supporting and evaluating the work assigned to a protective services unit, and providing services for adults or children where abuse, neglect and/or exploitation has occurred. Work includes developing a plan of protection, case management, counseling, and working with the County Attorney to obtain necessary legal authority as needed. This position will supervise a team of social workers with caseloads of in home and permanency planning cases. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Social Work Program Manager with some leeway to exercise independent judgment within the framework of applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedure in the performance of duties, both in terms of planning and accomplishing work and in making decisions regarding patient/family needs and requests. Supervision is a responsibility of this class. Does related work as required. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm, and hours must be flexible to meet work demands. Positions require rotating after hour's on-call responsibility.
