Job Description

Candidates in this classification have an immense impact on our community. Social Work Supervisors must provide structure, coordinate, administer and supervise Child Welfare services for investigative assessment and treatment. Supervisors must also serve as backup for other child welfare services when needed. Employees in this class must have thorough knowledge of social work principles, techniques, practices, and their application towards complex casework, group work, and community problems. Candidates must have knowledge of the psychosocial, socioeconomic and behavioral problems along with treatment resolutions. DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The primary purpose of this position is to structure, coordinate, administer and supervise Child Welfare Services for investigative assessment and treatment (IAT) duties and serve as backup supervisor for other Child Welfare Services when needed. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of methods and principles of casework supervision and training. Considerable knowledge of social work principles, techniques and practices and their application to specific casework and community problems. Considerable knowledge of the laws, regulations and policies which govern Child Welfare social work programs. Ability to supervise, train, or orient lower-level social workers, students, interns, or other staff. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work effectively. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: • Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from an Accredited School and two years of related experience • Possess a valid North Carolina Driver's License • Pass a criminal background check • Must be of Good Moral Character
