Social Work Supervisor III:  Position Number: 165-40-502       CPS Family and Investigative Assessments This position supervises assessment social workers whose goal is to protect children from further maltreatment and to support and improve parental/caregiver abilities to assure a safe and nurturing home for each child. This employee assigns cases to subordinates, coordinate workflow operations, and supervise staff through case review and consultation which requires the provision of substantial and recurring technical direction. Employee is responsible for staff training, resolving problems and ensuring that quality services are provided. This individual must be able to implement work standards and expectations within the unit as defined by NC DHHS, NC General Statutes, and State/County/Agency policies. Duties include work after hours to assist On-Call Social Workers.  Employee performs other duties as assigned.  A valid NC driver’s license and access to a passenger vehicle is required. Employees operating their personal vehicles for county business shall maintain the minimum liability coverage required by the State of North Carolina in accordance with the County Fleet Policy and Employee Safety Program (page 10, section.) Position is in the Tarboro office; however, office location may change based on the needs of the agency. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of methods and principles of casework supervision and training. Considerable knowledge of social work principles, techniques and practices and their application to specific casework and community problems. Considerable knowledge of behavioral and socioeconomic problems and their treatment and governmental and private organizations and community resources. Considerable knowledge of the laws, regulations and policies which govern social work programs. Ability to supervise, train, or orient lower-level social workers, students, interns, or other staff. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work effectively. Minimum Training and Experience: MSW from an accredited school of social work and two years of social work experience; BSW from an accredited school of social work and three years of experience of social work or counseling experience; MS degree in a human services field and three years of experience of social work or counseling experience; Four year degree in a human services field and four years of social work or counseling experience or graduation from a four year college or university and five years of experience in social work or counseling.  Salary: $43,691.00 or higher depending on experience and credentials.
