Job Description

The primary purpose of this Grant funded position is to provide supervision for social work staff (IATSW) and contracted Family Mentors who share a caseload of families with co-occurring substance abuse and child maltreatment where at least one child is 5 or younger and with a focus on substance affected infants.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

  • Administer and assure compliance with all county, human resource and governmental policies, rules and statutes including those covered by local, state, and federal laws specific to program area.
  • Personnel Management: Hire, develop, evaluate performance, provide feedback and disciplinary action as needed; develop and maintain a positive team work environment; provide effective, clear and timely communication.
  • Represent the agency in advocating for services needed to serve this population.
  • Collaborate with contracted service provider and other community stakeholders to develop, implement and sustain the START model - an intensive intervention model for substance abusing parents and families involved with the child welfare system that integrates addiction and recovery services, family preservation, community partnerships, and best practices in child welfare and substance use disorder treatment.  The program aims to address systems issues that result in barriers to families being able to access services in a timely manner.  It requires an approach to service delivery that involves cross-system collaboration and flexibility to meet the unique needs of this population.

REQUIRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: Master’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related experience; or a bachelor’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of directly related experience; or a master’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of directly related experience; or a bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of directly related experience; or a bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: A college transcript must accompany applications for Social Work positions.
