Social Worker I

The primary purpose of this position is the provision of child care services to low-income families who cannot afford the cost and need help in locating quality child care.  The service is directed towards clients, including relative caretakers and foster parents, who are employed, in training, or in need of child care to support child protective services in order to prevent child abuse and/or neglect. It can serve as a supportive service to children who are developmentally delayed and in need of a stimulating environment in which a child can learn and grow.  This service assists the economic services program as it is used as a resource that supports and strengthens families. These preventive, protective, and developmental concerns can be recognized as the underlying purpose of all services to children and families. The Child Care Social Worker determines eligibility under a wide range of criteria; provides child care consultation to social workers and supervisors in other units; tracks provider rate changes; performs on site visits with providers to monitor compliance and problem solve; and provides technical assistance to child care providers.  This position has liaison responsibilities the local Partnership for Children and private/non profit providers of child care.
