Job Description
The primary function of this position is to provide protective, investigative, counseling and case management services for children who are at risk for neglect and/or abuse. Work involves investigation of alleged neglect and abuse, substantiation of the alleged neglect or abuse as prescribed by federal and state guidelines, provide expert testimony in court hearings, and follow-up with case management and preventive services for clients; will serve on rotation-basis to cover After Hours duty with other social workers.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Principles of interpersonal, family and group dynamics; human growth and development; different social group approach models including tasks centered modalities, rehabilitation, organizational, developmental, treatment, behavioral intervention; a wide range of interpersonal intervention techniques; principles or organizational structures; theories and techniques of planned change; community organization principles, techniques, and goals; social work principles, practices and techniques; a wide range of psychological, social, human growth and personality development principles and most importantly family centered practice approach when engaging and working with families.
Minimum Education & Experience
Master’s degree from an accredited school of social work and one year of social work experience; or a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of social work and two years of social work or counseling experience; or Master’s degree in a counseling field and two years of social work or counseling experience; or a four-year degree in a human services field or related curriculum and three years of social work or counseling experience; or graduation from a four-year college or university and four years of experience in rehabilitation counseling, pastoral counseling or a related human service field providing experience in the techniques of casework, group work or community organization; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. One year of work experience can be credited for completion of the social work collaborative. Must have a valid Driver’s License
Physical Requirements
Position requires the physical ability to communicate verbally by person, phone and in writing. This worker must be able to remain seated for long periods of time, and also must be able to maintain an energetic pace to meet numerous demands. She/he must, be able to handle a variety of physical tasks such as lifting small children and to maneuver independently and agilely. She/he must be able to walk up and down stairs and drive a car.
