Job Description

POSITION: Social Worker I/AT– Child Protective Services (CPS) Investigation/Assessment and In-Home Services (Will accept work-against) GRADE: 62 BEGINNING SALARY: $48,908.65 (For fully qualified SWI/AT) LOCATION OF POSITION: Social Services Building, 2793 Caratoke Highway, Currituck, North Carolina 27929 POSITION AVAILABLE: Immediately MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree from an accredited school of social work and one year of social work experience; or a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of social work and two years of social work or counseling experience; or Master’s degree in a counseling field and two years of social work or counseling experience; or a four-year degree in a human services field or related curriculum and three years of social work or counseling experience; or graduation from a four-year college or university and four years of experience in rehabilitation counseling, pastoral counseling or a related human service field providing experience in the techniques of casework, group work or community organization; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. One year of work experience can be credited for completion of the social work collaborative. JOB DESCRIPTION: The Social Worker in this position primarily provides CPS Investigation/Assessment services and CPS In-Home Services. The position requires extensive work with children, parents, custodians, foster children, foster parents, and other relatives. Testifying in court is a regular duty in this position. Duties include working with complicated cases, which require flexible use of a wide range of social work skills. Position requires availability for after-hours and weekend on-call duty on a rotating basis. A valid driver’s license and a telephone where employee can be reached at all times are required. Work is performed under supervision of Social Work Supervisor III. Physical effort is needed on occasion, when placing children in foster care. Position must transport children and their personal belongings, which may include stereos, toys, sports equipment and clothing. Close visual attention is required. Utilizes copy machine, dictation equipment, calculator, cell phone, video equipment, personal computer, printer, fax machine, telephone, camera and County vehicle. This position may also provide Foster Care and Adoption Services, and Individual & Family Adjustment services when agency caseload trends require such.
