Job Description
The County is currently accepting applications for the position of SOCIAL WORKER I. This is an entry level
social work position that delivers child care subsidy programs primarily and supports the delivery of energy
programs. The position interviews applicants for eligibility based on state income guidelines; educates clients
regarding programs and services; assists clients in choosing the most appropriate child care arrangement;
completes reviews of all child care cases and reevaluates continued eligibility and parental fees in response to
changes in situation; ensures correct monthly payments to providers of child care services; and maintains
records regarding all program areas. This position provides ongoing case management and support to
individuals served, depending on program area, and provides referrals to appropriate resources to the
community.
This position requires a basic knowledge of social work principles, techniques and practices as it relates to the
social and economic factors that challenge the individuals served in a social services setting; general knowledge
of community resources; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others from a
wide variety of cultural, educational, and socio-economic backgrounds; skill in mathematical reasoning and
computation; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to plan and execute work
effectively; and strong computer skills, including knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office products
(such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook) and some type of digital case management system.
Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in a human service field; or a Bachelor’s Degree and one
year of human services experience in the areas of case management, assessment and referral, supportive
counseling, intervention, psycho-social therapy and treatment planning; knowledge of growth and development
of children with emphasis on special needs is preferred; bilingual Spanish skills preferred; experience with
NCFAST case management system preferred. Degree/Coursework must be from an appropriately accredited
institution.
Starting Salary $41,500 - $45,600/annual (commensurate with experience) and excellent benefits package
