ROBESON COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES JOB ANNOUNCEMENT SOCIAL WORKER III (FOSTER CARE) DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Foster care is temporary substitute care offered to children who must be separated from his/her parents or family, when the parents or families are unable to provide adequate care or protection for the children.  The first and utmost plan is to rehabilitate the parents; so that the child can be returned to the home as soon as possible.  In order for this to happen, the worker must be involved in formulating plans and intensive services for these families.  The worker will be involved in attending court with these cases and involved with other agencies such as Mental Health, the schools, and health facilities in the delivery of services to both child and parents.  The worker is expected to keep accurate records and update forms according to state and federal guidelines.  Also, this worker is involved in providing transportation for children and families, when not otherwise available in efforts to seek needed services for the children.  This worker reports to a Social Work Supervisor III.   KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Considerable knowledge of social work principles, techniques, and practices and their application to individual casework, group work, and community problems.  Knowledge of the psychosocial, socioeconomic and behavioral problems and their treatment.  Knowledge of governmental and private organizations and community resources.  Knowledge of laws, regulations and policies which govern the program.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrative superiors, members of caseload and their families, and with civic, medical, social, and religious organizations. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work.   MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:  Master's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work; Bachelor's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and completion of the Child Welfare Collaborative (Child Welfare positions only); Bachelor's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and one year directly related experience; Master's degree in counseling in a human services field and one year of social work or counseling; Bachelor's degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university and two years directly related experience; Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three years of directly related experience.   APPLICATION PROCESS: Interested applicants must contact Division of Workforce Solutions (formerly Employment Security Commission) at 289 Corporate Drive Suite B, Lumberton, NC by 5:00 pm on February 12, 2020.  Applicants not referred by DWS will not be considered. A PD-107 application & copy of college transcript are required and must be received at DWS in Lumberton by 5pm on February 12, 2020.  A review of qualifications, employment history and criminal history will determine applicants selected for the structured interview.  Applicant selected will be scheduled for drug testing.  In-house applicants submit application to Wanda McLean.  SALARY:      $43, 630.86                                 GRADE: 72  POSTED:       January 13, 2020 The Robeson County Department of Social Services is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
