Social Worker III – Adult Services

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:  The primary purpose of this position is to provide case management for Adult Services programs, including Guardianship and Individual and Family Adjustment. This position may also provide case management for Adult Protective Services. This position may also assure that the various types of adult care homes operate within the applicable rules, regulations and laws through an ongoing planning and monitoring process. KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:  Considerable knowledge of social work principles, techniques, and practices and their application to individual casework group work and community problems. Knowledge of the psychosocial, socioeconomic and behavioral problems and their treatment. Knowledge of governmental and private organizations and community resources. Knowledge of laws, regulations and policies which govern the program. General knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes and their treatment is required in certain programs or settings. Skill in establishing rapport with a client and applying techniques of assessing psychosocial, behavioral, and psychological aspects of client’s problem.  Considerable knowledge of licensure laws and regulations (state and federal), related NC General Statutes, fire and building codes, social work theory and practice.  MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Master’s degree in social work from an accredited school of social work; Bachelor’s degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and one year of directly related experience; Master’s degree in human services field from an accredited college or university  and one year of directly related experience; Bachelor’s degree in human services field from an accredited college or university and two years of directly related experience; Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and three years of directly related experience.  If unable to fill at full class, lower class in a work against (trainee, SW I or SW II) may be considered.
