Social Worker III –Adult Protective Services/Guardianship #1472, #1771                                 

Hiring Range: $42,362.43 - $54,013.26 Department:    Social Services Position Numbers: #1472, #1771 Closing Date:  Open until Filled   Description of Work:  This position is responsible for providing the day-to-day guardianship case management services to adult individuals who have been declared incompetent by the court and for whom Burke County DSS has been the court-appointed Guardian of Person as well as providing services to individuals alleged to be incompetent and in need of a Guardian to assist them with decision-making matters. This position is also responsible for providing adult protective services that includes but is not limited to receiving and evaluating reports of alleged abuse, neglect and/or exploitation of disabled adults; case management activities aimed at mobilizing protective services in those cases where maltreatment is confirmed and the need for protection is substantiated; working with the adult, their families and care providers and arranging a broad array of services to support disabled adults and their families in the community Knowledge and Skill Requirements: General knowledge of basic social work principles, techniques and practices and their application to specific casework, group work and community problems. Knowledge and understanding or advanced social work investigative and assessment techniques. General knowledge of both governmental and private organizations.   General knowledge of resources from within the local community. Applicant must possess some knowledge of behavioral and socio-economic problems and their treatments.  Applicant must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with administrative superiors, with members of the caseload and their family members, and civic, medical religious and social organizations.  Applicant must have the ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work effectively.   Minimum Training and Experience Requirements: Master’s degree in social work from an accredited school of social work; Bachelor’s degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and one year directly related experience; Master’s degree in counseling in a human services field and one year of social work or counseling; Bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university and two years directly related experience; Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and three years of directly related experience.   Burke County is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age, genetic information, or disability in employment or the provision of services.
