Social Worker III Foster Care

Foster care is temporary substitute care offered to children who must be separated from his/her parents or family, when the parents or families are unable to provide adequate care or protection for the children.  The first and utmost plan is to rehabilitate the parents; so that the child can be returned to the home as soon as possible.  In order for this to happen, the worker must be involved in formulating plans and intensive services for these families.  The worker will be involved in attending court with these cases and involved with other agencies such as Mental Health, the schools, and health facilities in the delivery of services to both child and parents.  The worker is expected to keep accurate records and update forms according to state and federal guidelines.  Also, this worker is involved in providing transportation for children and families, when not otherwise available in efforts to seek needed services for the children.  This worker reports to a Social Work Supervisor III.
