Job Description
Catawba County is recruiting for two engaging social workers with considerable knowledge in child welfare to fill the role of a Success Coach (Social Worker III). Success Coaches provide enhanced case management services to families. In this role, you will provide on-going supportive services including assessment, crisis intervention, and skill reinforcement to families. You will carry a caseload of 8-15 families requiring varying levels of service intensity.
These Success Coaches will provide these voluntary services to post adoptive families in the Region 4 which includes Mecklenburg, Gaston, Lincoln, Stanly, Cabarrus, Union and Cleveland counties. Position involves heavy regular travel within the communities where services are provided. For convenience to and knowledge of community resources, it is preferred that the applicant live in one of the counties served. If not, applicant must be willing/able to travel within the counties served on a daily basis.
These positions are time-limited and will end June 30, 2021.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Engagement, assessment and goal planning with families, including recruitment of families for the Success Coach Service
- Provide individualized skill building, coaching and reinforcement in home
- Provide crisis prevention/intervention services
- Provide service coordination and referral and linkage to appropriate services
- Provide other case management services
- Complete appropriate and timely documentation for evaluation purposes
- Participate in evaluation activities
- Help families manage crisis
- Master’s degree from an accredited school of social work, or
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of social work and one year of social work or counseling experience; or
- Four-year degree in a human service field or related curriculum including at least 15 semester hours in courses related to social work or counseling and two years of social work or counseling experience; or
- Graduation from a four-year college or university and three years of experience in rehabilitation counseling, pastoral counseling, or a related human service field providing experience in the techniques of casework, group work, or community organization
- Valid Driver’s license with a safe driving record
- Availability to work evenings to accommodate families
- Ability to engage quickly and effectively with families
- Considerable knowledge of community resources and needs of post adoptive families, parenting issues, and child welfare laws and models for teaching skill-building
- Comfort level in doing home visiting and working with diverse population
- Capacity to interact and communicate with others effectively and non-judgmentally
- Ability to collaborate creatively to develop and maintain community partnerships
- Ability to effectively work independently
- This is considered Light Work; lifting up to 20 pounds.
- Knowledge and experience in best practice models for parenting/coaching
- Experience working with families involved with the child welfare system
- Completion of Training for Adoption Competency (TAC)
- Strong preference for Masters or Bachelors in Social Work
- Prefer applicant to reside in one of the counties served
