Job Description

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for initiating and conducting Family and Investigative Assessments.
  • Responds to a myriad of requests from all areas of child welfare including: follow-up home visits for assessments, in-home services and foster care cases.
  • Responsible for initiating Adult Protective Services and Adult Services cases and follow-up contacts at homes or facilities.
  • Transports clients safely and responsibly.
  • Prepares investigative reports for the court, case record, narratives for all contacts made during the investigation and treatment plans effectively and efficiently.
  • Responsible for court preparation and testimony as an expert witness for court cases and hearings.
  • Works with the public who at times may not agree with the laws, rules or policies of the process or the program and must motivate and interact for the safety of all involved.
Education & Experience:  Master's degree from an accredited school of social work (Child Welfare Collaborative),  Master's degree from an accredited school of social work and one year of social work experience; a bachelor's degree from an accredited school of social  work (Child Welfare Collaborative) plus one year social work or counseling experience ;  or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of social work and two years of social work or counseling experience; or Master's degree in a counseling field and two years of social work or counseling experience; or a four-year degree in a human services field or related curriculum and three years of social work or counseling experience; or graduation from a four-year college or university and four years of experience in rehabilitation counseling, pastoral counseling or a related human service field providing experience in the techniques of casework, group work or community organization; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A copy of a certified college transcript and a letter of reference must be provided upon request. License/Credentials: Possession of a valid N.C. driver's license is required for this position and maintaining a driving record in accordance with Alamance County policy. Other Position Information: Workdays for this position would be liken to a swing shift. For example - work Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Off Monday, then work Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday; Off Friday, Saturday and Sunday, work Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, off Thursday, then work Friday, Saturday and Sunday; repeat. The amount of days worked are equivalent to the amount of days a regular full-time Social Worker shift holds. Ie: if a daytime worker that has a regular Monday – Friday schedule works 22 days for the month, then the On-Call Social Worker would also work 22 days that month. The work hours for this position would be from 4:30PM – 8:00AM during the week and on the weekend, the work hours are Friday at 4:30PM – Monday at 8:00AM. The On-Call Social Worker will come in to receive their assignments and will meet with their Supervisor or the On-Call Supervisor to discuss any needs for the shift. Field work can begin after that time and will be conducted until completed or until a reasonable hour dependent upon the safety and welfare of the child or adult. Once necessary visits and tasks are completed the worker can then be available on-call from home.
