Job Description

Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities:  Thorough knowledge of social work principles and practices, and their application to complex casework, group work, and community challenges. Considerable knowledge of behavioral, and/or psychosocial problems and their treatment theory. Considerable knowledge of family and group dynamics and a range of intervention techniques, governmental and private organizations, and resources in the community, laws, regulations, and policies which govern the program. The primary purpose of this position in Work First Employment Services is to assist families to become self-sufficient. The Social Worker II meets with clients on an individual basis to assess the household needs and determines the goals needed to be eligible to receive the Work First cash assistance and supportive services for the family. As a Social Worker II, it manages 100% of the Work First Caseload.  This position also provides coverage for Adult Services Intake, assisting customers both in person and via telephone with making connections in the community related to housing, education and other pertinent resources to assist with individual and family needs. This position may require operating a County vehicle in the performance of work. Valid driver’s license is required. Minimum Education and Experience:  Master’s degree in social work from accredited school of social work; Bachelor’s degree in social work from an accredited school of social work; Bachelor’s degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and one year directly related experience; Master’s degree in counseling in a human services field and one year of social work or counseling experience; Bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university and two years of directly related experience; Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and three years of directly related experience. **Directly related experience is defined as human services experience in the areas of case management, assessment and referral, supportive counseling, intervention, psycho-social therapy and treatment planning.
