Job Summary: The LINKS Coordinator provides services to youth ages 13 to 21 that are designed to help them develop and work toward achieving goals for becoming successfully independent after they leave foster care.
This social worker will facilitate groups that assist youth with effective communication, promote education and life skills, encourage appropriate peer interaction, career planning and money management.
The social worker will coordinate LINKS services with the youth, the caretaker for the youth, and the agency social worker for the youth. Duties include case management responsibilities for a limited number of youth ages 13 to 21, including young adults participating in foster care 18-21.
Responsibilities will include coordinating and providing training for foster parents and other caretakers on how to teach life skills to youth. Social worker will explain aspects of LINKS to other DSS Social Workers, and the general public. Social worker will develop a network of resource providers such as landlords, educational providers, financial groups, and mentors. Additionally, this social worker will develop and maintain a budget for the financial aspects of the LINKS program and will submit reports to this agency and to the state regarding financial eligibility and expenditures. Monitoring of eligibility for foster care 18-21. Participation in court on as needed basis. Other reports detailing statistical documentation for the program’s participants, goals, and outcomes will also be maintained.
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in social work from an accredited school of social work; Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of social work and completion of the Child Welfare Collaborative; Bachelor’s degree in social work or counseling; Bachelor’s degree in a human services field and one year of social work or counseling; Bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university and two years directly related experience; Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and three years of directly related experience. A valid NC driver’s license is required.
Salary: $48,519; Grade 63
