Job Description
Job Purpose
The primary purpose of this position will be to provide Supervision and Training for FC Adoptions team that delivers Intervention Services when abuse, neglect or dependency has been substantiated. Additionally, this position has the legally mandated responsibility for ensuring children and families at risk of abuse and neglect receive prompt and competent intervention; the safety of children is maintained while helping the parent to modify harmful behavior; and the family’s capacity to protect and nurture its children is strengthened by investigation and assessment of risk to the child. This position will oversee social workers whose job duties are: Foster Care, Foster Care Licensing and Adoptions.
Responsibilities
To be effective in this position you must have a thorough knowledge of social work principles, techniques, and practices and their application to complex casework, group work and community problems.
- Provides supervision and managerial functions including planning, organizing/directing, training, setting work standards, reviewing work, counseling and disciplining and performing other personnel functions for lower-level social workers, students, interns and other staff members.
- Must often work with complex and involved family dynamics, acute to severe medical and/or emotional disorders and mental illnesses that the client may possess as well as handle emergencies and crises as they arise-on an almost daily basis.
- Serves a rotational on-call and back up schedule for emergency situations involving the need to be available after hours for child welfare needs.
