Job Description

New Hanover County is seeking an experienced Human Services professional to join the Community Justice Services department as a Youth Intervention Specialist Case Manager. This full time telework position will operate in various environments to include: work in an office setting, telework from home, and direct service delivery throughout the community. This position provides professional case management services for at-risk youth clients and their families, referred through programs supported by the Youth Empowerment Services division of the department.  Duties include preparing and implementing case coordination plans by assessing needs and developing a plan of care to assist clients and families in reaching identified goals; identifying and linking clients and their families with community resources and services such as stable housing, medical care, health insurance, employment resources, educational development, and after school programming; monitoring and recording progress of case coordination plans; evaluating and updating client goals; assisting with individual and family crisis intervention; preparing reports on the progress of clients and families; participating in treatment team meetings, documenting case records; and dependent on program assignment, may co-facilitate psycho-educational groups.   New Hanover County is dedicated to the recruitment and recognition of a talented and diverse workforce that is committed to public service. Hours: Hours are 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday through Friday.  Must be flexible to adjust schedule and/or work evenings and on Saturdays. Must be available to work during emergency situations   Employment Type: Full-time, Non-exempt Compensation: The hiring range for this position is $41,317 - $45,000 plus a competitive benefits package. Salary will be determined based on qualifications, internal equity, budget, and market considerations. Sign On Bonus: Candidates accepting employment into this position are eligible to receive a one-time sign on bonus of $2,000 with half being paid in the first paycheck reflecting the pay period ending date that confirms compliance with the New Hanover County vaccination and testing requirements for reportable communicable diseases policy and half being paid upon successful completion of one's introductory period.  Current NHC employees hired to fill one of these positions will receive half of the sign on bonus amount ($1,000) upon starting in the position and the second installment of $1,000 will be paid following 180 days of successful employment in the position.  In the event the employee voluntarily resigns from the position before one year of service in it, the employee shall repay the sign on bonus amount on a prorated basis, depending on the length of full time service in the position prior to resignation.  New Hanover County offers:

  • Valid North Carolina Driver's License.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related Human Services field
  • Two (2) years of experience working in a similar setting
    • or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

      Other Information   Funding: Initial funding for this position will be appropriated through the American Rescue Plan until December 31, 2025, with an expectation to request funding through the ongoing budget after exhausting the initial appropriated funds.
