Job Description
The Scotland County Department of Social Services works to improve the wellbeing and safety of citizens' lives. DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
- This position is responsible for training, quality assurance reviews, report management, and minimal casework functions;
- Provides individual training for all new economic service staff in the programs of Food and Nutrition, Medicaid, Work First, and Child Care;
- Develops and presents group training to economic service staff at the request of supervisors, upon identification of common policy misinterpretation, and for new policy implementation;
- Reviews economic service records to determine timeliness and accuracy of eligibility, review, and change functions. Reports findings to supervisors and is available for explanation;
- Retrieves and reformats daily, weekly, and monthly reports for submission to supervisors;
- Occasionally performs casework functions in Medicaid Transportation and Energy programs;
- Employees must explain program(s) requirements and options and advise or refer clients to other program services as appropriate.

- General knowledge of policies, procedures, rules, state and federal law as related to governmental operations;
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret rules, regulations and procedures;
- Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and executive work effectively;
- Ability to critically think and apply selected policies, procedures, and regulations when processing personnel transactions;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, administrative officials, and the general public;
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions;
- Basic knowledge and/or ability to learn use of office equipment, software systems, internet based programs.
Typical Qualifications
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:- Two years of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker;
- Or, an equivalent of combination and experience;
- And, must attach a copy of your high school diploma or college degree to the application.
