Social Worker I/AT

The primary duties of this position involve working closely with families to develop a plan and arrange services to assist the family with resolving issues identified by an investigation of abuse/neglect.  The Social Worker will work with the family to strengthen and preserve the family unit. This Social Worker will supply advanced, professional level casework providing protective, investigative, counseling and case management services for children who are at risk for neglect and/or abuse. This Social Worker works within a unit that provides immediate response to crisis situations for at-risk children in the most complex cases in the department. Work involves investigation of alleged neglect and abuse, substantiation of the alleged neglect or abuse as prescribed by federal and state guidelines, providing expert testimony in court hearings, and following-up with case management and preventive services for clients. This Social Worker will  analyze situations and determine appropriate courses of action immediately or in short time spans and often under very stressful conditions. They may also provide group, family or individual treatment to clients of any age and any developmental, mental, medical, substance abuse, financial or family problem. This Social Worker is also required to be on-call after hours every 13 weeks to respond to reports of child abuse, neglect or dependency, as well as to respond to calls concerning adults who are disabled and in need of protective services.
