Job Description

Person County Government is recruiting for an Income Maintenance Caseworker I for the Adult Medicaid Unit at the Department of Social Services. The primary purpose of the Income Maintenance Caseworker I (IMC I) is to determine eligibility for program benefits through the Adult Medicaid programs. The person in this position takes and processes applications, reviews cases for continuing eligibility, and reacts to changes in situation as they are learned to determine the effect of the change on the case. This person also responds to information from other sources and reports generated by automated matches and other sources to determine the effect on the case, as well as to reply to requests for information. This is a non-exempt position working 37.5 hours weekly/1950 hours annually. Cover letter, resume and transcripts required to apply. A copy of the official college transcript added as an attachment is acceptable for the application process, but if an applicant is selected for an interview, he/she will be required to bring an official college transcript to the interview.

Minimum Education and Experience

Required Minimum Training (Must match State classification spec): Graduation from an accredited associate degree program in Human Services Technology, Social Services Associate, Paralegal Technology, Business Administration, Secretarial Science, or a closely related curriculum; or graduation from high school and two years of paraprofessional, clerical, or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling of data, analysis of data and/or performance of mathematical or legal tasks with at least one year of such experience being in an income maintenance program; or graduation from high school and three years of paraprofessional, clerical or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, the gathering and compiling of data, the analysis of data and/or the performance of mathematical or legal tasks; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
