Social Worker IAT – CPS

Person County Government is now recruiting for a Social Worker IAT in the CPS Unit. The primary purpose of the Child Protective Services Unit is to assure that children are protected from abuse, neglect, dependency or abandonment by the parent(s) or caretaker. The Unit is responsible for receiving and screening the referrals, assessing the validity of the referrals and providing case management and treatment services to the family if the referral is substantiated. This position responds to crisis situations in regard to reports of abuse and neglect received by the agency.  Responsibilities include investigation or assessment of alleged abuse and/or neglect, substantiating the allegations within state and federal guidelines, providing testimony in court, and following up with case management or treatment for families.
