Job Description

Job Purpose The primary purpose of this position is to provide management and supervision of the childcare unit program staff.  The childcare unit program helps parents pay for childcare to allow the parents' participation in educational training or employment activities, thereby encouraging self-sufficiency and improving the quality of life for children and families.  It is the supervisor’s responsibility to train, direct, and support the social workers to do the tasks associated with this position. The supervisor also teaches and models practice standards that are consistent with federal and state statutes, administrative rules, and protective policies. Responsibilities
  • Provides supportive services for families receiving Work First Family Assistance and children served through Child Welfare.
  • Supplies information to parents about choosing safe and quality child care arrangements and promoting the value of safe settings and a good early childhood education experience for a child’s ongoing development.
  • Provides supervision of the childcare unit including day-to-day operations; ongoing training of the workers within the unit; evaluation of the programs; and establishment of short- and long-term goals of the unit.
  • Ensures that Federal, State, and local policies and procedure are followed
  • Performs personnel responsibilities as assigned and needed.
Skills & Abilities Education & Experience:  Master’s degree from an accredited school of social work and one year of social work or counseling experience; or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of social work and two years of social work or counseling experience; or a master’s degree in a counseling field and two years of social work or counseling experience; or four-year degree in a human services field or related curriculum including at least 15 semester hours in courses related to social work or counseling and three years of social work or counseling; or graduation from a four-year college or university and four years of experience in rehabilitation counseling, pastoral counseling, or a related human services field providing experience in the techniques of casework, group work or community organization; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A copy of a certified college transcript and a letter of reference must be provided upon request. Computer Skills:  Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint Experience). License/Credentials: Possession of a valid N.C. driver's license is required for this position and maintaining a driving record in accordance with Alamance County policy. Other Position Information: This position is subject to reallocation contingent upon funding, agency needs and client population and are subject to perform work during emergency or disaster situations as required and may be required to staff shelter overnight.
