SW II – Foster Home Licensing

Job Purpose Alamance County Department of Social Services is actively seeking a Social Worker II for the Foster Home Licensing Unit. Employee will have the ability to engage and train prospective foster and adoptive parents and, at times, act as a liaison social work staff and licensed parents. Responsibilities

• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with administrative superior's members of case load and their families, civic medical, social and religious organizations.
• Trains or instructs lower-level social workers, students and/or interns.
• Possess and demonstrates considerable knowledge of social work principles, techniques and practices and their application to individual casework group work and community problems.
• Establishes rapport with clients and applies techniques of assessing psychosocial evaluations.

Skills & Abilities MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:   Bachelor's degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution; bachelor's degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of directly related experience; bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. NECESSARY SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:   Valid N.C. driver's license and the ability to maintain a driving record in accordance with Alamance County policy. All DSS positions are subject to reallocation contingent upon funding, agency needs and client population and are subject to perform work during emergency or disaster situations as required and may be required to staff shelter overnight.
