ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN II Position # 610113                                                                  Salary Range:       $34,955 - $55,247 Primary Purpose of Position: The primary purpose of this position is to receipt all cash monies, checks and money orders daily for the Direct Deposit Account, Trust Accounts and the Expense Account.  All trust receipts are posted into QuickBooks software and all direct/expense receipts are posted onto subsidiary cards.  Daily Deposits are prepared by balancing the deposits with the actual receipts written and those posted into QuickBooks.  A trust deposit is printed for verification and audit.  Worker must have superior knowledge of non-profit accounting regarding non-profit practices and procedures.  Worker must have a level of professionalism such that confidentiality and overall security of agency funds are maintained.  Work must have strong decision-making skills when dealing with both clients and staff.  Worker must possess the ability to perform well independently as well as a team.  The worker must perform well under all stress levels and possess strong time management skills as necessary. This position must adjust to changes in the work environment, which may involve Child Care Providers and customer's problems such as: change in a customer's eligibility status, rate changes, fee changes, and disgruntled customers. In addition, this position must have the ability to function in several computer programs at the same time to receive accurate and detailed information. Position performs as liaison with Foster Care social workers to ensure that all information needed for reimbursement of foster care services is correct and entered into the state accounting system.  This position is responsible for accurate payment to foster care providers. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  General knowledge of the application of established bookkeeping and accounting principles and techniques to standard accounting transactions.  General knowledge of established governmental and departmental budgeting and bookkeeping practices and procedures.  General knowledge of office methods and procedures.  Ability to plan, organize, and review the work of subordinate clerical personnel. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with the public and other government employees.  Ability to present information clearly and concisely in oral and written form.  Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, and policies to the maintenance of financial records. Minimum Education and Experience: Graduation from a high school including or supplemented by basic courses in bookkeeping or accounting and three years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting clerical work in an accounting office; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (Completion of a one or two year business course in an accredited community college or business school including or supplemented by basic courses in bookkeeping or accounting may be substituted for two and three years of the required experience respectively.)
