About this Opportunity
An Income Maintenance Supervisor II (IMS II) provides supervision, training, and support to staff in the Family and Children Medicaid Review Unit. The Supervisor maintains current knowledge and State policy regarding the Family and Children Medicaid program. Providing supervision to department employees involves such duties as instructing, assigning, and reviewing work, maintaining standards, acting on employee problems, selecting new employees, and appraising employee performance. This position reviews program objectives and service delivery needs with staff as well as formulating specific goals and objectives for this program. In this role, the IMS II provides input to higher-level management on short range planning needs for staff. The goal of this position is to ensure the agency is meeting quality and timeliness standards for the State for the Economic Services Family and Children Medicaid Programs. Job responsibilities include:
  • Monitors the work of subordinate staff through case applications, recertifications, progress reports, conferences, and informal discussions to ensure compliance with State and local policies.
  • Provides regular support and guidance to staff through conference and team meetings
  • Reports all employee concerns/issues to Program Manager
  • Explains and implements changes when necessary to staff
  • Prepares annual and probationary evaluations as appropriate
  • Assigns cases to staff and ensure workloads are balanced
  • Manages all concerns for customers related to eligibility decisions, processing timelines, and allotment amounts
  • Provides training and technical assistance for all case errors for workers and accesses appropriately prior to sending them to the NCFAST Help Desk for tickets
  • Reviews and ensures cases are processed accurately and within mandated Policy timeframes
  • Attends all related refresher and mandatory training given by the State as well as our internal QA unit
  • Reviews NC Fast postcards and stay abreast of accurate interpretation and application of updates and changes sent via the State
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of Family and Children Medicaid policies
  • Knowledge of NC FAST
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software
  • Communication skills (oral and written)
  • Organizational skills
  • Critical thinking skill
Must be available to work during emergency situations.Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree and two year of experience as a casework or investigator in an economic service program and preferably with one year of supervisory experience; or
  • Associate degree and four years of experience as a caseworker or investigator in an economic service program and preferably with one year of supervisory experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Direct experience with NC FAST is highly desirable as well as the Intro to Human Services and Income Maintenance Caseworker - NC FAST Certificates.Physical Requirements
