Job Description

"This is an upaid internship opportunity" The Forsyth County Department of Social Services is looking for Child Welfare Interns.  Each year,  the Social Services department provides a quality learning experience for up to three (3) qualified students seeking an internship in the field of Social Work. An internship through Forsyth County DSS provides students with an overview of child welfare systems while integrating social work theory and knowledge in a structured learning environment.  Students learn the written, oral, and technological skills required to implement social work standards in a professional setting.  Additionally, applicants have the opportunity to experience child welfare services in one of the following areas: -  Child Protective Services; -  Foster Care and/or; -  Adoptions.
Distinguishing Features:
Interviews for selected applicants will take place between  03/02/2020- 03/09/2020.  Identified candidates will be required to bring the following documentation to their interview: -  Proof of automobile liability insurance; -  Proof of professional liability insurance; -  A valid driver's license; -  A copy of your college transcript and; -  Three (3) letters of reference. These documents must be submitted at the interview. Failure to provide these documents will remove an applicant from the interview/selection process. Each candidate selected for a field placement must submit to a criminal background check and a drug screen prior to the start of the assignment.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Qualified applicants must be enrolled in a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) or Master of Social Work (MSW) program and be in good standing academically.  Prior to field placement, all applicants must complete Child Welfare in North Carolina: A Pre-Service Curriculum for New Workers and Supervisors.
