About this Opportunity
The Mental Health - Substance Abuse Clinician provides early intervention and recovery support services to children and their families involved with the child welfare system.  The focus will be on families impacted by opioid use; however, all support will be provided to all families in need.  This work involves making referrals and/or completing comprehensive clinical assessments, linking parents and children to treatment, collaborating with treatment providers, and providing crisis support services to the children and families involved with the child welfare system.  This position will serve as a liaison between the department and various mental health and substance abuse agencies.  Job responsibilities include
  • Complete Comprehensive Clinical Assessments for parents and youth.
  • Coordinate, collaborate, and communicate with LME, local mental health/substance abuse treatment providers, social work staff, and other community providers.
  • Provides referrals and links parents and youth to appropriate service providers and communicates directly with service providers to ascertain compliance with services.
  • Serve as a liaison between agency social workers and mental health/substance use agencies.  Making referrals, sharing information, and providing feedback.
  • Manage crisis situations and other crises as assigned to prevent foster care disruptions.
  • Complete timely, concise, detailed documentation
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of Mental Health and Substance Abuse diagnostic criteria and treatment.
  • Knowledge of local mental health systems.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

Must be available to work after normal business hours and during emergency situations.Education and Experience
Ph.D., MSW, or Master’s Degree in Psychology, Counseling, or another equivalent graduate clinical degree.  LCSW, LICSW, or LMHC are required. Two to three years of clinical experience is preferred. Physical Requirements
Must be physically able to operate a variety of office equipment.  Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
