Job Description

Description of Job:    The primary purpose of this position is to assist the transportation position that is assigned the responsibility of administering Medicaid and EDTAP transportation services available through the Wayne County Department of Social Services.  This position does an initial assessment to determine if customer is eligible to receive transportation services. Should customer be determined eligible, this position notifies customer of eligibility in writing. This position will monitor customer’s use of services to insure program guidelines are followed. This position is responsible for retrieving, assigning and accessing appointment messages as well as inputting data into Compass Pilot, CTS, NC FAST and NC TRACKS. This position communicates daily by telephone, fax, email, Pilot tasks and NC FAST tasks. email with clients, and transportation vendors to schedule appointments, confirm transportation events and overall case coordination. This position provides gasoline vouchers for participating vendors to customers who have access to a vehicle, but need assistance to purchase gasoline for medical appointments. This employee will learn and use programs Compass Pilot and Compass Appointments (Compass Co-Pilot, if issued a DSS IPad) as required by position to do, but not limited to: request leave, schedule/receive appropriate appointments, set up virtual files, scan/retrieve documents, receive/send tasks. Educational/Experience Requirements:
  • Graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills, and abilities gained through at least one year of office assistant/secretarial experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience.
