About this Opportunity
The primary responsibility of the Social Work Program Manager is to provide programmatic and administrative leadership to the Foster Care/Permanency Planning section of Child Welfare.  This position is responsible for the supervision of the social work supervisors, social work trainer, and a paralegal who supports the foster care/permanency planning section.  Additional tasks include, but are not limited to policy development, program planning and budget preparation. The Social Work Program Manager serves as an agency liaison for designated committees and interagency groups. Job responsibilities include:
  • Provides direct supervision to supervisory staff to ensure all agency and state policies and procedures are followed.
  • Assists in identifying individual and agency training needs through observations, case reviews, and feedback from supervisory and management staff.
  • Remains current on all state and agency policies and updates by reviewing policy and attending training.
  • Actively participates in recruitment, training and retention of agency staff.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of child welfare policies and legal mandates
  • Knowledge of social work and practices and principles (particularly strengths-based)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Assessments Skills
  • Communication skills (oral and written)
  • Organizational skills
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Ability to create and revise job and topic-specific training materials in a variety of formats.
Normal Business Hours are 8:30 am - 5:00 pm Monday - Friday.  Must be available to work during emergency situations.Education and Experience
  • Master’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related supervisory experience; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of directly related experience and two years of related supervisory experience; or
  • Master’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of directly related supervisory experience; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of directly related experience and two years of related supervisory experience ; or
  • Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
LCSW highly preferred.Physical Requirements
Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including common office machines such as calculators and copiers, etc. Must be able to exert a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.  Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. Light Work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree. However, if the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
