Description of Work: Position involves direct supervision of social workers who are responsible for helping families ensure children have their safety, permanency and well-being needs met. Children could be residing with their biological parents, with relatives, or in other kinship placements. Families are receiving child protective services, prevention of out of home placement, permanency planning, and/or family reunification services. Supervision includes staff who provide child protective services intake, assessment and in-home services, crisis counseling and after hours coverage. Duties include but are not limited to coordination of work flow, case assignment, identifying and implementing training needs, ensuring quality of work performance, ensuring proper program implementation and compliance with State and Federal Policy and Practice. Position requires the responsibility for fiscal management of program funding. Also included are administrative/supervisory duties. Position requires the ability to lead and motivate others to evaluate and implement innovative initiatives. Must be able to understand the importance of data and its relationship with outcomes, and be able to clearly and concisely communicate program and outcome information to varied audiences. Requires the ability to work effectively in a teamwork setting and maintain a cooperative and effective working relationship with team members, agency leaders and community professionals. Requires the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary teamwork setting and maintain effective working relationships. Applicants must become proficient in and able to provide supervisory guidance to staff in application of the agency’s practice model (Signs of Safety and Trauma Informed Practice), specialized services and approaches beyond State policy and practice. Applicant must become proficient in the Northwoods document management system. Applicants must possess good computer skills and be able to become proficient in Microsoft Word including creating/delivering Power Point presentations. Must have a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
Minimum Education and Experience: Master’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related experience; or a bachelor’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of directly related experience; or a master’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of directly related experience; or a bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of directly related experience; or a bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
PREFERENCES: Prefer applicants with BSW or MSW Degree; or master’s in an accredited human services degree with substantially equivalent social work courses with social work experience in a county department of social services.
